Events from the annual Cheektowaga Winter Recreation Celebration that were postponed in December will take place this weekend at Stiglmeier and Town parks.

Live music and fireworks highlight Saturday's events in Stiglmeier Park while a petting zoo, chili cook-off and cookie bake-off are among Sunday's featured events at the Recreation Center in Town park.

Ike Smith and the Boogie Monsters provide live music Saturday at Stiglmeier Park. The music runs from 6-7:30 p.m. Fireworks will be launched at 7 p.m.

Sunday's events at the recreation center run from 1-4 p.m.

Public skating takes place from 1- 2 p.m. and from 2:30-4 p.m. A mascot hockey game will be played at 2 p.m. Admission for the public skate is free with a donation of canned food.

Among the mascots expected to play are Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street, Santa, the Easter Bunny and mascots from area colleges.

During Sunday's festivities, children can have their faces painted, partake in crafts and watch a woodcarving demonstration by Carl Buryta of Alden. There will also be a petting zoo.
