Local girls basketball updates

Central

The Lady Warriors (5-3 overall, 3-2 in ECIC-III) went 3-1 over Christmas break, defeating West Seneca West (55-40), Tonawanda (57-39) and Barker (55-49), before losing to Royalton-Hartland, 54-47.

Against Barker, senior forward Breanna Harris led Central with a game-high 19 points. She also recorded a game-high 20 points against Roy-Hart, while senior guard Margo Pagano added 12.

Cleveland Hill

The Lady Eagles (3-6 overall, 2- 2 in ECIC-IV) dropped three of four games over break, defeating Immaculata in the opening game of the Immaculata Tournament.

In a 45-35 loss to Roy-Hart on Friday, senior forwards Kemba Buchanan and Alyssa Luksch each scored 10 points.

Depew

The Lady Wildcats (4-1 overall, 3-1 in league play) host ECIC-III opponent Amherst tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

John F. Kennedy

The Lady Bears (4-5 overall, 1-2 in ECIC-IV) went 2-1 over break, pounding the Buffalo Academy of Science, 56-17. At the Tonawanda Tournament, JFK lost to Tonawanda before beating Cardinal O'Hara in the consolation game, 56-46.

Against O'Hara, senior guard Krissy Wesolowski led the locals with 16 points, while senior forward Melissa Schultz added 12 and sophomore Jamie Nash, 10.

Maryvale

The Lady Flyers (7-3 overall, 4- 0 in ECIC-III) split a pair of games at the Matt Colpoys Tournament at Kenmore West, losing to Lancaster 47-38 before defeating Iroquois in overtime, 39-37.

Junior guard Olivia Gmerek led the locals with 12 points, while senior forward Toni Caruso added 10.

St. Mary's of Lancaster

The suddenly hot Lady Lancers (6-4 overall) have won four in a row, including three victories over winter break against Buffalo Seminary (68-22), Williamsville South (48- 31) and Holland (56-50).

Against South, Cheektowaga resident and freshman guard Raenne Stilwell led St. Mary's with 21 points, including two threepointers. Fellow Cheektowaga resident Katie Kapanek, a senior, also drilled a pair of treys.

St. Mary's returns to action tomorrow at home against Msgr. Martin opponent Niagara Catholic at 7:30 p.m.
