Christmas wishes as we bid adieu to 2007 Editorial
Another year is reaching its conclusion, and today's publication of the Cheektowaga Times marks our final edition for 2007. The Times office will be closed December 22 - December 30 as our staff takes a week off to celebrate the Christmas holiday with our families. Following our tradition, there will not be an edition of the Times published Christmas week. Our next edition rolls off the presses on January 3, 2008.
While we spread the holiday cheer, we would like to share with our readers some heartfelt and tongue-in-cheek comments on our annual wish list.
To Town Supervisor-elect Mary F. Holtz: The best of luck as she becomes the town's first female supervisor.
To Highway Superintendent-elect Mark Wegner: Town streets that are free of debris, especially garbage cans.
To town residents: No more "dings" in their garbage cans.
To the Cheektowaga Community Symphony Orchestra: Another successful year in 2008, and no snow-related cancellations.
To Village of Sloan trustees: A copy of the book, "Frankly My Dear...": The World's Greatest Comebacks, Snubs, Insults, One-Liners, and Last Words written by Katherine and Richard Greene.
To Depew residents: Continued peace that appears to have permeated village board meetings.
To Jim Jankowiak and Tom Johnson: Long, happy retirements after decades of public service. We'll have much more about them in the January 3, 2008 edition of the Times.
To bicycle enthusiasts: A safe and friendly Rails to Trails path on which to spin their wheels in 2008.
To town rodents: Stronger rat poison.
To the staff at St. Joseph Hospital: Job security delivered by Albany politicians who stick their heads where the sun shines for a change.
To all of our readers: On behalf of our publisher Elizabeth Allis Gruber, the staff of the Cheektowaga Times wishes all of our readers a safe and happy holiday season.
