Bears' bowling splits 2 to open 2007-08 season
Although the John F. Kennedy boys bowling got off to a tough start to its season against Cleveland Hill, the Bears found a way to rebound Tuesday against another league opponent.
The Bears are 1-1 to start the campaign, losing to local rival Cleveland Hill by a close margin before defeating league foe Lackawanna on Tuesday, 4-3.
Against the Eagles, JFK was defeated, four games to three, losing by a total of eight pins. Cleve Hill came back from a 108-pin deficit to seize control of a 2-2 match, compiling a 771-624 advantage the rest of the way.
Freshman Zak Kuzara recorded the high game for Kennedy with a 233, finishing with a 585 set. However, 13 of 24 Bear bowlers finished with averages below 160, as freshman Tyler Harhigh (214) and junior Kyle Uzar (200) led the way for the Bears in individual games.
Cleve Hill's "A" team swept JFK, while the Bears' "B" squad won every match from the Eagles.
