Lady Bears look to build on last season's bowling
A double-digit amount of returning athletes, including every starter, is back in the fold this winter for the John F. Kennedy girls bowling team.
The Lady Bears, coached by Kyle Karmazyn, are coming off a season in which they finished 7-5 and second in Erie County Interscholastic Conference-IV.
JFK, which opened this season with wins against Cleveland Hill and Lackawanna, returns "A" teamers Ashley Walker (sophomore, teamleading 165 per-game average), Kristen Challgrin (junior, 151), Danielle Dauer (junior, 144) and Allison Orzeszek (sophomore).
Returning members of the "B" squad include juniors Courtney Smith and Sherry Dinglelay, sophomore Haley Williams and eighth grader Nicole Pearce. Other returning contributors are sophomores Kelly Astyk and Marissa Mueller, as well as eighth grader Gabrielle Kuzara.
Karmazyn listed Mueller as an especially talented, up-and-coming athlete.
JFK faced league opponent Alden Wednesday afternoon, with results coming too late for press time.
