After several burglaries, Depew man arrested
A 30-year-old Depew man was arrested by Cheektowaga police and charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief after an extensive investigation into several home burglaries.
Thirty-year-old Donald Hilbert was arrested on October 23 after he confessed to several crimes in the area.
On August 31, homeowners at a Bellevue Avenue residence reported a burglary during which jewelry and cash were taken from their residence. A neighbor reported seeing a man run into the woods after he exited the home. Police were unable to locate the man immediately following the homeowner's call.
West Seneca police were, at the same time, investigating several similar incidents that led the to the arrest of Hilbert in their own town. West Seneca police notified Cheektowaga police, who established enough probable cause for Hilbert to be charged with the Bellevue burglary.
