Mazur's recollection hits home
Mr. Mazur's guest editorial moved me to tears. I remember the churches in Buffalo as well as a synagogue (which was on Fillmore). I was baptized at Transfiguration in 1941, the last baby of the "old" year. My mother received first Communion at St. Luke's in 1919. My dad was a faithful member of Corpus Christi. I attended St. Mary of Sorrows (Seven Dolors) and was married there. My friends and I used to roller skate at St. Ann's lyceum. St. John Kanty's had beautiful Christmas Masses. I remember the late night/ early morning Masses at St. Columba's. Such beautiful architecture and art work is priceless. I can feel the pride those people had when they created those treasures. What will happen to those pieces of our past and our ancestors?
I enjoyed the paintings in the Polish Village on Broadway. My sister- in - law was a waitress there for twenty years.
Please check out www.polkasonline.com. I hope you enjoy listening.
I pray there will be a way to protect our treasures of Polonia as well as those from others who contributed to the QUEEN CITY of BUFFALO!
