Town resident wins music award
Community Music School recently announced that Tailynn Thompson, a Cheektowaga resident, has won a 2007 Ruth A. Marcy Performance Award in the 7-year-old and under category.
Tailynn is the daughter of Delores Salter. Tailynn studies piano with Jan Boyce at the Community Music School's Buffalo location.
Thompson was selected from performers in the school's honors recital, recently held at the Montante Cultural Center at Canisius College.
The judges were faculty pianists Suzanne Chapin and Hassan Haky plus faculty mezzo-soprano Barbara Cooper.
