Maryvale boys head varsity basketball coach Mark Kensy will be busy directing the 15th annual Boys and Girls Basketball Camp from June 25-29 at the Maryvale Middle and High schools at 1050 Maryvale Drive.

The instructional and competitive camp is for girls entering grades 5- 10 as of fall 2007, as well as boys entering grades 5-9. The camp will include all phases of the game, league play and individual contests and awards.

Each camper will receive professional instruction from area high school coaches, including Kensy. All participants will receive a camp Tshirt.

The camp will run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $100, and enrollment is limited to 80 participants. Sneakers, shorts and white or black T-shirt should be worn. The coed camp schedule includes:

No lunch will be served on Friday, as the camp ends at noon. The program does not provide health or accident insurance. It is the responsibility of the guardian to provide medical coverage.

Among the camp objectives is to present the fundamentals of basketball so that each player will increase their understanding of the sport. Instruction on an individual and group basis is also stressed.

Insubordinate behavior will result in dismissal from camp. Smoking is not permitted and all injuries and illnesses are to be reported to a player's coach. Refunds will only be given as a result of an injury. This refund will be based upon a percent of the daily loss per camper. The refund policy does not apply to any camper who is dismissed from the camp for disciplinary reasons.

Also, a Hoopville Shooting Camp will take place at Maryvale High School on July 5-6.

The instructional camp is for developing a consistent shot, learning how to shoot and making necessary adjustments to improve.

The camp is for all players, female and male, grade five through college. The camp will include a pre- and post-camp shooting evaluation and analysis, shooting instruction and drills. Each camper will shoot a minimum of 500 shots per day.

All participants will receive a camp T-shirt. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $70 for two days, $50 for one day, and enrollment is very limited.
