Flyers dominate WNY Powerlifting
Several Maryvale High School students, as well as other local athletes, placed at or near the top of several weight classes in the 22nd Annual Western New York Drug Free Powerlifting championships Saturday at Maryvale.

+ Jacob Latshaw, Maryvale, third, 680.

Geoffrey Ruggiero and Jon Dipirro, Maryvale, tied for first, 930.
168-pound weight class

The Lancaster Elks Lodge and Maryvale Booster Club sponsored the event, which featured 70 high school athletes from across Western New York. Damasiewicz was selected as the meet's "Light Platform" Most Valuable Lifter. Kenmore West's Sean Leary was voted the meet's Most Valuable "Heavy Platform" Lifter.
