NCAAA hoops wrapup

The North Cheektowaga Amateur Athletic Association basketball season ended Saturday at Maryvale Middle School with two nip-and-tuck title games. The following results included:

(Boys 3-4-5 grades division) Boston College 26, Syracuse 19

The Boston College team topped the Syracuse squad that was coached by Jeff Spitzberg. Kyle Wooten Jr. led BC with 13 points, while Zak Ciezki added eight. Mark Stucke paced Syracuse with 11 points.

Kyle Wooten Sr. coached the winning Boston College squad.

(Boys 6-7-8 grades division)

Syracuse 29, UB Bulls 24

Ty Buczkowski had the hot hand all game for the Orangemen, scoring a game-high 12 points. Buczkowski was a force down low, grabbing more than 10 rebounds and also blocking several shots.

Mike Wrona and Bryant Fulton, who scored eight and six points, respectively, led a UB comeback that fell just short. Syracuse completed an outstanding season in which it won its last 12 games after dropping the season opener.

Todd Petrell coached the Orangemen, while Karl Smith manned the sidelines for UB.
