JFK sending 7 to sectionals in indoor track competition

The John F. Kennedy boys and girls indoor track teams will be wellrepresented at the Section VI championships on February 24 at Fredonia State College, as the Kennedy squads had a combined seven athletes qualify.

On the boys' side, senior Greg Craft (pole vault event), junior Chris Scharf (shot put) and sophomores Derek Krzemian (shot put) and Andy Wrazen (55-meter high hurdles) qualified.

On the girls' side, seniors Jessica Campas (55-meter dash, triple jump) and Candace Ping (long jump) and junior Jessica Stechenfinger (3,000- meter run) also made sectionals.

Last weekend at Fredonia, Campas jumped a personal-best distance of 31 feet, 10 inches, finishing third overall.

Craft won the pole vault with a height of 13 feet. Krzemian finished 10th in the shot put event with a personal best distance of 42'8." Wrazen participated on the Bears' 4x200 relay team that finished sixth.

Elsewhere in local indoor track action, Depew senior Jerry Leidenfrost won the 55-meter dash Saturday, while Lady Wildcats junior Kristen Angierski finished third in the triple jump at 32'1." Both participated in the events at Fredonia State and are headed to sectionals.
