TRAFFIC STOPPER... Walden Avenue was closed between Woodell and Haller avenues for more than an hour on Wednesday afternoon following a motor vehicle accident in which a car collided with a Metro bus. The bus narrowly missed striking the front porch of a Walden Avenue home, background. Rescue firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate at least one victim from the car, foreground. Two persons from the car and seven on the bus were treated at the scene and transported to area hospitals. A SMART Team (Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team) also responded to the site, along with Pine Hill firefighters and several Rural/Metro ambulances. Sloan firefighters stood by at Rescue's fire hall. A Rural/Metro paramedic suffered a minor injury after he slipped on a patch of ice. Rescue Fire Chief Richard Chojnacki said that none of the injuries appeared to be serious.
