Jankowiak tapped as next supervisor

      The Depew Hook and Ladder Fire Company may have paved the way toward resolving a problem of retaining firefighters after being awarded a $40,500 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.

Shoplifter gives police feeling of déjà vu
      Cheektowaga Police Officers Chris Wachowiak and John Skonecki were only on duty for about one hour on January 3 when they arrested a Buffalo man for shoplifting. Imagine their surprise when they arrested the same man slightly more than two hours later for the same offense at a different store.

      On New Year's Day the Cheektowaga Lions held their annual "Hangover Bowling Tournament" at the AMF Thruway Lanes, on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga.
