Memories of Ja-Fa-Fa's Dear Editor:
The news just reached me that Ja- Fa-Fa's is now closed. What memories came rushing back. Stopping by Ja-Fa-Fa's before the drive in, rushing there after school, and after a family Sunday drive. As a child, I just couldn't imagine life getting much better.
As I was getting ready to leave the area as well as my teen years, saying good bye to all the memories wasn't easy. I always made time to return at least once a year (except when I lived outside of the U.S.) to hit the hot spots. First and foremost was Ja-Fa-Fa's, then John and Mary's, and lastly the Anchor Bar for its chicken wings.
I'm proud that four generations of my family were able to have the pleasure of Ja-Fa-Fa's. I always made the trek with my daughter and then granddaughters once a year for the "dog." I couldn't wait to introduce my daughter and then my grandchildren to the Big Three. Our journey was as close as Maryland and later as far as Florida to enjoy Ja-Fa-Fa's.
Growing up I lived across the way from Mr. Allis and remember the early days of the Cheektowaga Times. Thank you, Times, for letting us know what happens in our little corner of the world. Please give us plenty of notice as Memorial Day Weekend approaches and Ja-Fa-Fa's opens for the day. I would like the opportunity to sit with my Dad (he's in the cemetary down the street) with just one more dog.
