Gabryszak cruises as Dems post gains
Town Supervisor Dennis H. Gabryszak is heading to the New York State Assembly after defeating Republican Jeffrey Sell in the race to represent the 143rd district during Tuesday's general election.
     Gabryszak's victory mirrored dozens throughout the state and across the country as Democrats won every major state position and took over the United States House of Representatives for the first time since 1994.

Positions removed from budget, 'credit' for Depew police raised
A handful of positions added by Town Supervisor Dennis H. Gabryszak in his tentative budget were removed Monday by the Town Board, and further changes will give residents in Depew a tax break in the final 2007 budget adopted by the board.
     Two full-time positions proposed by Gabryszak, a computer support assistant and a records inventory clerk, were eliminated by the board. The board also dropped a part-time law clerk intended to staff the justice court.

Unsafe buildings law has public support
Proposed changes that would add muscle to the town ordinance addressing unsafe buildings received support from one community group located in a neighborhood where the changes could do the most good.
     The changes would replace the existing ordinance with a streamlined version, making it easier to address nuisance buildings and thereby maintaining a minimum quality of life.
