Letters to the Editor
Nepotism in getting a job Dear Editor:
I was wondering since your paper is so adamant in bringing about information in or about our town, why do you not bring up the nepotism that goes on in order to get a job.
I, too, was wondering if the civil service test for police officer was on the square. I do know that you can be number one and never be appointed. I guess you have to be related to someone or be a great financial backer of the politicians.
A son of a police officer was appointed and now in the academy did not qualify. He has only one semester of criminal justice. I can see where this civil service test stinks to high heaven.
My grandson was an honor student at Maryvale High School, graduated, and enlisted in the army to get a free education. He served eight years in the army overseas, discharged honorably, scored on the test. He was told that no matter where he was on that list they do not have an appointment for him.
I also was of the impression that a veteran had some choice. But as usual, the veterans are promised everything but get the finger in the end.
I also see how discrimination works.
