CHEEKTOWAGA
JULY 9
DWI...A 44-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police observed the man's vehicle nearly strike a curb twice while traveling from Broadway onto Currier Street. A traffic stop was initiated and upon interviewing the man, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed the man had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The man stated that he was coming from a Dick Road tavern, where he consumed three beers and two shots of liquor within two hours of traveling home. Field sobriety tests were administered. Alco sensor: positive. Breath test: .16.
MENACING/ASSAULT... An 18year-old Orchard Place man and 19year-old West Sobieski Street man were arrested after police responded to a Jean Terrace address on a report of harassment. Upon an officer's arrival, a victim stated the 18-year-old became angry, grabbed the victim's throat and threw the victim against a wall after the victim accidently bumped into the 18-year-old. The 18-year-old, who was reportedly "highly intoxicated," then allegedly broke a beer bottle and threatened to "kill" the victim and "slit her throat." The 18-year-old reportedly spat in the victim's face and pushed the victim outside the residence before the victim called police. Officers later located the 18-year-old at a Pinehurst Avenue residence and took him into custody. Upon further investigation, police determined the 19-year-old had punched the 18year-old in the face several times earlier, causing severe swelling and bleeding on his left eye, a bump on his head and several bruises. A witness stated the 19-year-old, who was also taken into custody, had assaulted the 18-year-old.
POSSESSION...A 30-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police observed the man not wearing a seatbelt while operating his vehicle through Town Park. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the vehicle, an officer observed several packs of firecrackers in plain view. During a pat search, an officer located a bag containing alleged marijuana in the man's possession.
POSSESSION...A 20-year-old Walden Avenue man was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police observed the man in a Walden laundromat, which had recently been frequented by disorderly youths. When an officer approached the man, the man reportedly abruptly placed his hands into his pockets. During a pat search, an officer located a plastic bag containing alleged "crack" cocaine sticking out from a belt near the man's left hip, as well as a plastic bag containing alleged marijuana in the man's left shoe.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF... A 24year-old Genesee Street man was arrested after police responded to the man's residence on a report of a dispute. Upon an officer's arrival, a victim stated the man damaged the victim's cellular phone, as well as a tail light on the victim's vehicle, with a hammer.
POSSESSION...A 39-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both of Blasdell, were arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police observed a vehicle driven by the man traveling eastbound on Walden Avenue
with an insufficiently lit license plate. A traffic stop was initiated near Harlem Road and upon approaching the vehicle, an officer observed the man reportedly attempting to place a plastic bag down his pants. Upon exiting the vehicle, the man attempted to throw away a plastic bag containing alleged "crack" cocaine and was taken into custody. A background check revealed the vehicle's registration was suspended and that the man had an outstanding bench warrant in Buffalo. Police later observed a small piece of what appeared to be "crack" cocaine in the woman's mouth, and the woman spat the item out. Police later located an alleged "crack" pipe inside the vehicle.
JULY 10
POSSESSION...A 36-year-old Hyland Road, Depew man was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police observed the man's vehicle traveling on Broadway near Allied Drive with its driver's view obstructed. A traffic stop was initiated and upon interviewing the man, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The man and two passengers reportedly told conflicting accounts of their whereabouts. The man stated he had two "crack" pipes in his shoe, where police located the items.
ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD...A 59-year-old Mansion Avenue woman was arrested after police responded to the woman's address on a report of a dispute. Upon an officer's arrival, a victim stated that she and the woman had gotten into an argument and that the woman punched the victim's face and pulled the victim's hair while the victim held her baby. The woman then reportedly choked the victim, and police observed a scratch under the victim's eye and red marks around her neck.
JULY 11
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF... A 49year-old Pheasant Lane woman was arrested after police responded to the woman's residence on a report of a dispute. Upon an officer's arrival, a complainant stated the woman, who was reportedly intoxicated, smashed her daughter's cellular phone. The woman also allegedly threw another phone earlier. Police located the woman in a nearby driveway.
POSSESSION...An 18-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police stopped a vehicle, in which the man was a passenger for a traffic infraction. The vehicle had been traveling on Walden Avenue near Leonard Post Drive. Upon approaching the vehicle, an officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the interior. The man reportedly stated, "I have three bags of weed in my pocket," where police located three plastic bags containing marijuana.
JULY 12
POSSESSION...A 49-year-old Siberling Drive woman was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police responded to a Siberling residence on a report of a suspicious vehicle in front of the location. Upon arrival, police observed the woman in her vehicle, which matched the report's description, and noticed the woman holding a pouch containing yellow Clonazepam pills. Police also located Loritab and Hydrocodone Bitartiate pills in the pouch.
THEFT OF SERVICES...A 37year-old Betty Lou Lane man was arrested after police responded to a Broadway address on a report of unpaid taxicab fare. Upon an officer's arrival, a cab driver stated he drove the man from a
Buffalo tavern to his residence, but the man was unable to pay the cab bill. The man, who had allegedly tried to cash a "bogus" lottery ticket, was taken into custody.
POSSESSION...A 32-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police observed the man's vehicle operating its windshield wipers without its headlights illuminated while traveling on Walden Avenue near Hoerner Avenue. Upon approaching the vehicle, an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the interior. The man reportedly only had a learner's permit, and during a search of the vehicle, an officer located five bags containing alleged marijuana on the floor near the brake pedal.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY...A 48-year-old Pheasant Lane man was arrested after police responded to the man's residence in regards to a theft of a shotgun in Genesee County. Upon arrival, police observed the stolen gun, which the man reportedly stated belonged to his cousin.
JULY 13
UNDERAGE SALE OF ALCOHOL...An 18-year-old Cayuga Creek Road man, 18-year-old Alaska Street man and 18-year-old Shanley Street man were arrested after police responded to a Harlem Road gas station. Upon an officer's arrival, a complainant stated he discovered that the Cayuga Creek Road man, who worked as a store clerk, had sold a 12-pack of beer to the Alaska Street man and Shanley Street man, who are younger than 21 years of age.
CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON...A 32-year-old Buffalo man was arrested after police observed the man looking into a vehicle near a Kenville Road maintenance garage. After seeing an officer, the man reportedly ran from the scene but was caught by police a short distance later. The man reportedly stated that he was "just making rounds, checking for kids breaking into cars and stealing stuff." The man also stated he had a pistol in his waistband, which police located along with eight rounds of ammunition and a Beretta "holster." A background check revealed the man had an outstanding arrest warrant in Buffalo.
HARASSMENT...A 22-year-old Barbados Drive man was arrested after police responded to the man's residence on a report of a dispute. Upon an officer's arrival, a victim stated she heard the man reportedly threaten to "kill his mother." When the victim called police, the man reportedly grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground, injuring the victim's back. Police later had to "physically subdue" the man in order to place him into custody.
CRIMINAL CONTEMPT... A 38year-old Genesee Street man was arrested after police responded to the man's address on a report of an order of protection violation. Upon arrival, officers observed the man walking out of a victim's residence. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the victim had an active stay-away order of protection against the man.
TRESPASSING...A 55-year-old Tamarck Court man was arrested after police responded to a Union Road restaurant on a report of an unwelcome guest. Upon an officer's arrival, a manager stated that the man had been asked to leave the location several times, but that he repeatedly returned.
JULY 14
POSSESSION...A 19-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police observed the man's vehicle traveling southbound
on Eggert Road without its headlights illuminated. A traffic stop was initiated on Genesee Street and when the man opened the vehicle's glove compartment to take out his registration, an officer observed in plain view packing material that is commonly used to wrap marijuana. The man reportedly admitted to having marijuana, and police located a bag containing alleged marijuana in the vehicle's glove compartment.
ASSAULT...A 22-year-old Amherst man was arrested after a victim stated at police headquarters that the man had assaulted her. The victim alleged that the man "beat her up" while the victim was in the man's vehicle. The man allegedly punched and slapped the victim, as well as pulled her hair when the victim attempted to exit the vehicle. An officer observed swelling above the victim's left eye and redness and scratches on her left arm.
POSSESSION...A 35-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police observed the man's vehicle cross over double yellow lines as it attempted to pass another vehicle while traveling northbound on Union Road. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the vehicle, an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the interior. During a search of the vehicle, police located a small plastic bag containing alleged marijuana under the driver's seat.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF...A 31year-old Lackawanna Avenue, Sloan man was arrested after police responded to the man's address on a report of criminal mischief. Upon an officer's arrival, a victim stated that she and the man had gotten into an argument and that the man pushed, kicked and spat on her. The man also reportedly kicked out a window and kicked against doors on his vehicle. Police located the man in a Lovejoy Street tavern.
EXPOSURE... A 43-year-old Raymond Avenue man was arrested after police observed the man urinating on an outside wall of a Walden Avenue convenience store. The man also reportedly exposed himself approximately 10 feet from the store entrance.
POSSESSION...A 21-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police responded to a hit-and-run accident on Walden Avenue in which the man's vehicle was involved. Upon an officer's arrival, a witness stated the man's vehicle struck another vehicle while traveling on Walden,and then the man ran eastbound away from the scene. Police located the man at a Walden coffee shop and the man reportedly admitted to having been involved in the accident, and that he had a marijuana cigarette in his possession. Police located the item in the man's right front pants pocket. A background check revealed that the man had an outstanding bench warrant in Buffalo.
DWI...A 36-year-old Olean man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police responded to a Walden Avenue address on a report of a hit-and-run accident in which the man' vehicle was involved. Upon an officer's arrival, a witness stated the man's vehicle struck another vehicle while traveling on Walden, then continued away from the scene before stopping in a Walden restaurant parking lot. Upon interviewing the man, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed the man had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The officer also observed a nearly full bottle of beer inside the vehicle. The man reportedly stated that he had consumed alcohol earlier while in Olean. Field sobriety tests were administered.
Alco sensor: positive. Breath test: .13. A background check revealed the vehicle's registration was expired.
JULY 15
POSSESSION...A 52-year-old Garden Village Drive man was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police observed the man's vehicle traveling eastbound on Walden Avenue with an inadequate brake light and a loud muffler. A traffic stop was initiated and an officer observed the man attempting to conceal an object in a newspaper. The man reportedly appeared nervous and gave conflicting accounts of his whereabouts. During a search of the vehicle, an officer located an alleged "crack" pipe inside a newspaper.
DWI...A 29-year-old Basswood Drive woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police observed the woman talking on a cellular phone while operating her vehicle southbound on Union Road near French Road. A traffic stop was initiated and upon interviewing the woman, an officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed the woman had glassy, bloodshot eyes. The woman reportedly stated she had consumed "several" beers at a Buffalo tavern. Field sobriety tests were administered. Alco sensor: positive. Breath test: .11.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT... A 24-year-old Buffalo man was arrested after police stopped a vehicle in which the man was an occupant and traveling on Eggert Road near Susan Lane, for a traffic infraction. After several persons began congregating around the scene, the man reportedly began shouting profanities, continuing to do so even after police warned him to stop.
CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY...A 19-year-old Buffalo man and a 16-year-old Buffalo male were arrested after police responded to a Thruway Plaza department store on a report of shoplifting. Upon arrival, police observed the 19-year-old and the 16-year-old in the store parking lot, where they admitted to stealing various video games, controllers and trading cards valued at $90. Upon further investigation, police determined the 19year-old and the 16-year-old had taken the items into a bathroom, removed them from their packages and exited the store.
AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT... A 25-year-old Buffalo woman was arrested after police responded to a Strasbourg Drive address on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police observed the woman sitting on the front porch while screaming and crying. A victim stated the woman, who was reportedly "extremely intoxicated," had called his cellular phone several times earlier, "yelling and threatening him." The woman later allegedly threw a bottle at another individual's vehicle, then begged the victim not to call police. The woman also reportedly continued screaming after being placed in a patrol car.

HARASSMENT/DISORDERLY CONDUCT...A 46-year-old Elma man was arrested after police responded to a George Urban Boulevard address on a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed the man wrestling another male. Police determined the man was involved earlier in an altercation with his daughter, whom the man reportedly struck in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
