Power restored along Union Road
Updated - 12:30 p.m. March 14, 2007

Traffic is flowing freely again, and affected businesses have regained electricity following a power outage along Union Road.

Power was disrupted around 11 a.m. along Union Road between Orchard Place and Maryvale Drive due to a fallen power line.

The power line fell just north of Clover Place, on the west side of the road. Cheektowaga police closed the southbound lanes of Union Road, and traffic was reduced to one lane for northbound traffic.

Traffic signals at the intersection of Union and Genesee Street were not working for a brief period of time.

Power was restored around 12:27 p.m.

A few minutes after the power line fell, a transformer caught fire on Northcrest Drive. U-Crest firefighters were at both scenes.
