| Fire broke out inside an Eastland Avenue home just after 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, killing an elderly woman who lived in the home.
Officials have not released the woman's name.
Cheektowaga police officers arrived at the home at 156 Eastland just after 9 p.m., but could not gain entry into the home.
U-Crest firefighters soon arrived to search for the trapped woman and extinguish the blaze. The woman's body was found in a front room, where the fire is believed to have started. The blaze was contained to one room.
