Reckless Driving...Mark S. Kagan, 19, of Buffalo was arrested September 8 after an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the Kensington Expressway. Radar confirmed that the vehicle was traveling 130 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone. The officer then activated the patrol unit’s emergency lights and siren. While pursuing the vehicle, the officer noticed Kagan turn around, look at him then accelerate quickly in a "racing" manner. The officer noticed that the vehicle had one yellow headlight, insufficient tail lamps and the rear license plate was mounted sideways. The officer then observed the vehicle cut in front of two other vehicles, forcing them to brake. The vehicle then exited at Best Street in Buffalo where the officer trapped him between another patrol unit and a curb. While exiting his vehicle, the officer noticed that the vehicle was attempting to jump the curb. According to the police report, the officer ran over to the vehicle, pulled Kagan out of the vehicle and placed him on the ground where Kagan was then handcuffed by the officer.
DWI...Brian M. Adams, 23, of Ilion was arrested September 9 for driving while intoxicated after an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Genesee Street. The officer paced the vehicle at 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. While pursuing the vehicle, the officer noticed the vehicle weave halfway between the westbound lanes several times. A traffic stop was initiated on Genesee Street near Cayuga Road. While speaking with Adams, the officer noticed that Adams had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Adams stated that he was coming from an adult entertainment club where he had consumed two drinks. Field sobriety tests were administered and Adams recorded .15 on an alco sensor and .14 on a breathalyzer.
Possession...Christopher J. Jajkowski, 24, of Williamsville was arrested September 9 for criminal possession of a controlled substance after an officer responded to a call on Garden Road on a report of a male hitting a female. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim and the suspect were in the living room. The victim stated that Jajkowski had a heroin problem, and that she witnessed him attempting to "shoot" heroin in the bathroom. According to the victim, while she was attempting to grab the heroin, Jajkowski punched her in the stomach, and then struck her on the face after she bit him. The victim then brought the used heroin needle and a bag of alleged heroin to the officer. The victim’s mother was also at the scene, and she found three bags of heroin in a room near the bathroom. Jajkowski admitted that the heroin belonged to him.
DWI...Edward R. Reisdorf, 43, of Wherle Drive was arrested September 10 for driving while intoxicated after an officer observed a vehicle cross onto a shoulder and over double yellow lines while traveling eastbound on Cleveland Drive near Yvonne Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated on Yvonne. While talking with Reisdorf, the officer noticed that Reisdorf had glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Field sobriety tests were administered and Reisdorf registered .23 on both the alco sensor and breathalyzer tests.
Harassment...Joseph Ayer, 21, of Euclid Avenue was arrested September 11 after an officer responded to Barbara Place on the report of harassment. On location, a victim stated that Ayer called her stating that he was coming over to fight the victim’s boyfriend. While the officer was speaking with the victim, Ayer drove by the victim’s residence. The officer stopped the vehicle on Atwood Place near East End Avenue, where Ayer was apprehended.
DWI...Eric S. Patterson, 21, of Lancaster was arrested September 11 for driving while intoxicated after an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Walden Avenue near Union Road. The officer paced the vehicle at 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. While pursuing the vehicle, the officer noticed the vehicle weave between the lanes several times. A traffic stop was initiated on Walden near Dick Road. While interviewing Patterson, the officer noticed that Patterson had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Patterson stated that he was coming from a downtown bar where he had consumed four beers. Field sobriety tests were administered and Patterson recorded .15 on an alco sensor and .14 on a breathalyzer.
DWI...David M. Borowczyk Jr., 20, of Buffalo was arrested September 12 after an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Rossler Avenue. The vehicle passed the stop sign and stopped on William Street, blocking right lane traffic. A traffic stop was initiated on William near Richard Drive. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Borowczyk’s breath. Borowczyk stated that he was coming from a Garden Village Plaza bar where he had consumed four drinks. Field sobriety tests were administered and Borowczyk registered .15 on a breathalyzer.
Disorderly conduct...Eric C. Lovell, 23, of Pfohl Road was arrested September 13 after an officer was dispatched to Lovell’s residence to cover a domestic incident. On location, while investigating the incident the officer had to ask Lovell numerous times to lower his voice because he was screaming and using obscenities. Lovell refused and continued yelling and swearing.
Criminal mischief...Shombray M. Heard, 21, of Simpson Drive was arrested September 13 after an officer responded to Heard’s residence. On location, a victim stated that during a verbal argument Heard punched a hole into a bedroom door. Heard said that he wanted to punch the complainant, but he decided to punch the door instead.
Leaving the scene of an injury accident...Julio C. Zulleruelo, 45, of Las Vegas, Nevada was arrested September 13 after an officer responded to a hit and run accident with injury on Genesee Street near Transit Road. A witness provided a description of the vehicle. Police dispatch then received a call that the vehicle was at a car rental office at the airport. NFTA police held Zulleruelo and then handed him over to Cheektowaga police, but Zulleruelo denied being involved in the accident. An investigation revealed that damage to Zulleruelo’s vehicle matched damage on the victim’s vehicle.
DWI...Eric S. Hayes, 30, of Buffalo was arrested September 14 after an officer observed a vehicle weave from a far right lane into a left lane on William Street. Another officer, in an undercover vehicle observed the same vehicle hit a median on Union Road and drive off at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated. While questioning Hayes, the officer noticed that Hayes had glassy, watery, bloodshot eyes and slightly slurred speech. Hayes stated that he was coming from a Garden Village Plaza bar where he had consumed one and a half beers. Field sobriety tests were administered and Hayes recorded .19 on a breathalyzer.
DWI...Jonathan A. Johnson, 26, of Buffalo was arrested September 14 for driving while intoxicated after an officer observed a vehicle stopped at a green light on Pine Ridge Road. According to the police report, the vehicle didn’t move until six seconds later, and it drifted into the right lane twice while traveling toward Harlem Road. A traffic stop was initiated on Genesee Street near Toelsin Road. While speaking with Johnson, the officer noticed that Johnson had glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Field sobriety tests were administered and Johnson recorded .15 on a breathalyzer. Johnson was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and bribery after an officer found a bag of alleged marijuana in Johnson’s pocket. Then, while at police headquarters, Johnson offered to pay an officer $1,000 if he left him go.
